Company estimates that new jobs -in leadership areas, quality inspectors and assembly workers- will open at the end of 2025.

As part of its global expansion process, ProMed Molded Products, a US company specialized in the design and manufacturing of silicone and plastic components for medical devices, announced its operations in Costa Rica with the construction of a manufacturing plant in the Costa Rica Green Valley business park, located in Grecia.

The new facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology and will specialize in advanced manufacturing processes such as silicone and thermoplastic overmolding, insert molding, engraving and manual assembly with added value. This expansion not only strengthens ProMed’s global productive capacity, but also reinforces its commitment to the medical device industry through precision-designed silicone solutions.

“This new plant represents a decisive step in our mission to advance the manufacturing of medical devices. Costa Rica offers a strategic location with a highly qualified workforce, and we are excited to generate new employment opportunities while strengthening our capacity to serve clients around the world. Geographic proximity is key for many of our clients, including those located in Costa Rica and its surrounding areas. Having a ProMed facility nearby will be tremendously beneficial”, said Clint Schneider, President of ProMed.

Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Trade, stated that “the decision of ProMed Molded Products to establish operations in Grecia reflects the confidence of the advanced manufacturing sector in the capabilities Costa Rica offers as a strategic investment destination. This project is a clear example of how attracting foreign direct investment can extend its benefits beyond the Greater Metropolitan Area, promoting the generation of quality employment, technology transfer, and productive sophistication in the regions. From the Ministry of Foreign Trade, we will continue working to strengthen the country’s competitiveness conditions, facilitate the installation of new operations and boost territorial economic development”.

“Costa Rica has shown a 23% increase in the number of projects announced outside the Greater Metropolitan Area in 2024, compared to 2023, which demonstrates the strong potential of our regions to host strategic and competitive operations. López, General Manager of the Costa Rica Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER).ProMed is one of the industry leaders that will strengthen our competitive advantage outside the Greater Metropolitan Area, offering quality jobs and contract manufacturing services and high-value components for the medical technology industry”, noted Laura

On the other hand, Roberto Argüello, Director of Projects at Portafolio Inmobiliario expressed, “the arrival of ProMed to Costa Rica Green Valley marks a milestone in the continuous growth of the business ecosystem in the Occidente region. This investment reaffirms the potential of the region and its capacity to attract leading companies in innovation and manufacturing. At Portafolio Inmobiliario, we are proud to mention that the construction process of ProMed obtained the Blue Ecological Flag (BAE) in the Construction category, reflecting our commitment to sustainable development and our alignment with our double materiality strategy. We believe in the transformation of spaces that drive economic and social progress, providing an ideal platform for companies like ProMed to thrive and generate productive linkages that add value to the region”.

ProMed’s investment in Costa Rica aligns with the country’s growing position as a medical device manufacturing hub, driven by its robust ecosystem of skilled talent and infrastructure.
With this new facility, ProMed projects the creation of new jobs in the Western region by the end of 2025. Initial hiring will focus on key leadership positions, supervisors, molding operators, quality inspectors, assembly operators, technicians and production engineers.
