COSTA RICA July 2023. As part of the efforts towards community and economic reactivation of the country, Costa Rica Green Valley implements actions that strengthen human talent of the Western zone and the country.
On this occasion, Portafolio Inmobiliario will be sponsoring students interested in participating in the project Formula 1 in Schools, where young people will put their comprehensive learning to the test and develop new skills. They will have to build a Formula 1 vehicle and present their project.
The panel of judges will evaluate and choose the winner among all the schools considering several variables such as written work, creativity, marketing and presentation skills.
This is the first edition of the Formula 1 in Schools project, where 20 schools in the country will participate including 28 teams (some educational centers have two or more teams) and approximately 160 students. This initiative arises from the high demand and urgency for professionals in free zone companies.
Only 13% of college graduates in Costa Rica currently graduate from STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) careers. The idea is to provide a space for young people to be interested in them and have the tools to develop professionally in any one of them.
Apart from sponsoring the F1 in Schools program that includes the 20 participating schools, Portafolio Inmobiliario is also the main sponsor of the Naranjo Professional Technical High School (CTP in Naranjo). This sponsorship consists of supporting two teams from each school so that they can make their F1 prototype vehicle in their respective schools, with the help of their assigned mentor and sponsor”, said Arnoldo Estrada, Director of the Costa Rica Green Valley project.
The CTP in Naranjo is a recognized technical high school located in Naranjo, Costa Rica. This institution has a long history of providing quality technical education and preparing students for successful careers in various STEAM fields.
“Portafolio Inmobiliario firmly believes in making significant contributions to the communities in which we operate. By sponsoring the Formula 1 in Schools project, we directly contribute to the development of future leaders and professionals who will contribute to the growth and success of Costa Rica and the Costa Rica Green Valley community. As part of our ongoing efforts to support education and foster innovation, Costa Rica Green Valley will contribute $4,000 to the Formula 1 in Schools project,” mentioned Estrada.
This investment will help provide each student with valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and teamwork. The sponsorship began in June 2023 and will end in August 2023, with the completion of the project and the competition. It is a unique opportunity to explore the potential of students in fields related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Formula 1 in Schools project will allow its participants to improve their critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills, which are essential to achieve professional success.
“This initiative will be very beneficial for the companies that will establish in Costa Rica Green Valley when they need to hire this type of professional. This project is also closely aligned with the sustainability strategy of Portafolio Inmobiliario. We are committed to promoting sustainable development and investing in projects that foster innovation, education, and social welfare. By supporting initiatives such as the Formula 1 in Schools project, through our sponsorship, we hope to inspire young minds, foster their pursuit of knowledge and innovation in STEAM careers, and contribute to a bright future for Costa Rica», concluded Estrada.
