The company intends to open more than 300 new jobs and projects growth of up to 1,000 jobs in 5 years.

The North American company DDS Lab, one of the largest laboratories in the production of dental solutions in the United States, announced the construction of its first plant in Latin America, located in the Grecia Free Trade Zone (ZFG), within the Costa Rica Green mixed development project Valley, in the western part of the country. Within the range of products that the company offers to the country, it stands out: the production of crowns, bridges, dentures and implants that dentists use to restore the teeth of patients.

The Minister there. of Foreign Trade, Paula Bogantes, mentioned: «The foreign trade sector is working hard to strengthen the competitiveness of regions outside GAM, with a view to promoting them as investment destinations and improving the enabling conditions required to establish and generate employment in those regions. As a result, DDS Lab, one of the largest laboratories in the production of dental solutions, announces that it will build its first plant in the Latin American region in the Grecia Free Trade Zone. This operation will translate into formal employment opportunities for Costa Ricans, especially those from the West, and will also promote productive linkages with other sectors of the economy.”

Jorge Sequeira, General Director of CINDE commented: “For CINDE, the development of regions outside of GAM is a priority. This project, announced today in the western zone, demonstrates the potential that the regions have to offer companies the conditions for their installation and growth in the country. This achievement has been possible thanks to the articulation and joint work between real estate developers in the area, INA, FEDOMA, the foreign trade sector, local governments and many other key actors that have generated a friendly and attractive ecosystem for investors”.

Costa Rica was the Latin American country selected because it has optimal conditions for the growth of the organization, such as: highly trained human talent, an ideal geographic location, and a stable and friendly political environment for business.

“We believe that the educational system in Costa Rica is very solid and the programs that are underway will allow us to find highly qualified collaborators for our business. In addition, government entities in the country such as CINDE make the process of generating new negotiations much simpler and more attractive. For this reason, we are happy to join other medical device companies that are operating in Costa Rican territory, to expand the offer of high-quality products”, said Bart Doedens, CEO of DDS Lab.

It is projected that the company will make an investment in the country of up to approximately $15 million in the coming years, with the construction of its industrial warehouse and its equipment to produce dental devices.

In addition, the company intends to open more than 300 new jobs in the coming months, and plans to see growth of up to 1,000 jobs in 5 years. The professional profiles that will be required are focused on the administrative area, technology and experts in dental health.

“We are very grateful and happy to welcome DDS Lab as one of our new tenants. After having lived through a period of recession, there is nothing more exciting than seeing how transnational companies continue to bet on the development of the country. In addition, we firmly believe that the western area has the talent and potential to continue growing and developing”, mentioned Arnoldo Estrada, Project Director at the Grecia Free Trade Zone.

Currently, DDS Lab has facilities in Tampa, United States, and ShenZhen, China, generating 1,200 jobs serving more than one million customers per year in the United States. Also, DDS Lab is in a process of expansion and intends to enter Canada and Europe in the coming years.

The ceremony for the laying of the first stone of the company, held on November 3; marked the start of DDS Lab in Costa Rica, and the plant is expected to come into operation in August 2023.
